The Game of Life and How to Play It

The Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn is a timeless spiritual self-help classic first published in 1925, offering a simple but powerful philosophy for approaching life with greater faith, confidence, and purpose. Shinn presents life not as a constant struggle, but as a "game" governed by spiritual laws that can be understood and consciously applied. Drawing on biblical teachings and New Thought philosophy, she explores the power of thoughts, words, imagination, faith, and expectation, arguing that our inner attitudes can strongly influence the way we experience the world. The book covers practical spiritual principles such as the Law of Prosperity, the Power of the Word, nonresistance, forgiveness, love, intuition, Divine Design, and the use of denials and affirmations.

Shinn encourages readers to release fear and excessive worry, replace negative thinking with constructive beliefs, forgive past hurts, and trust a higher spiritual intelligence rather than trying to control every outcome. Through short anecdotes, memorable teachings, affirmations, and accessible explanations, The Game of Life and How to Play It provides guidance for readers interested in manifestation, positive thinking, spiritual growth, prosperity consciousness, personal development, and the power of affirmations. Whether approached as a spiritual guide or a classic work of motivational philosophy, this influential book continues to appeal to readers seeking greater abundance, happiness, self-belief, inner peace, and a more intentional approach to everyday life.
