What Vennjoy uses and why
Vennjoy stores your email, display name, password hash, profile preferences, collection, circle memberships, messages, plans and responses to provide the services you request. An email, display name and password are required to create an account. Account processing supports the service contract; security logs and abuse reports protect the service and its users. Optional audience measurement uses your consent.
Your handle
Vennjoy stores the handle you choose and shows it alongside your display name in your circles and on a public profile you choose to share. Availability checks reveal only whether a name can be chosen, without account details. A former handle remains reserved after a change or account deletion to prevent impersonation; its link to a deleted account is removed. A handle does not make your profile public automatically.
Optional sign-in connections
When enabled, Google and Apple let you sign in to Vennjoy. Vennjoy receives an account identifier and a verified email, including an Apple relay address if you choose one. Vennjoy does not receive your Google or Apple password or request your contacts. Temporary connection data expires after ten minutes. Provider access tokens are not retained in your Vennjoy account. An existing account is linked only after you sign in and confirm your Vennjoy password. Connections can be removed in account settings, while retaining another way to sign in. Deleting a Vennjoy account removes its local connections; permissions at Google or Apple can also be managed in that provider’s account settings.
Your choices about sharing
Public profiles are private by default. Publishing makes your display name, handle, chosen photo, biography, optional public city and selected discoveries visible to anyone. Drafts, your email, other discoveries, circles and messages remain private. You can hide your profile and choose whether search engines may list it. Photos are resized and their metadata removed. Taste comparisons use only the other member’s public selection and your own favourites; the result is visible only to you. Changing a handle changes the profile address; former addresses stop working.
Cookies and audience measurement
Session and security cookies support the account; a cookie remembers your analytics choice for up to six months. Temporary favourites stay in your browser until cleared or transferred to your signed-in account. With consent, Vennjoy counts visits and useful actions using a daily session identifier, device category, language and referring domain. Analytics do not store IP addresses. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals are respected. You can withdraw consent through Cookie preferences without affecting your account.
How long information is kept
Account information is kept until the account or relevant content is deleted. Account deletion removes the collection, authored messages and plans, and circles owned by the account. Daily visitor identifiers and notifications are kept for 90 days; aggregate statistics and the administration audit log for 13 months. Audit entries retained after account deletion no longer reference the deleted account. Local backup copies expire after 14 days.
Hosting, email and external services
IONOS hosts Vennjoy and Netim provides email delivery. Film and event images load from TMDB and Ticketmaster, so your browser contacts those providers. Clicking an Amazon or ticketing link opens a separate service with its own privacy policy. Vennjoy does not process card details for those purchases or sell your personal collection to advertisers.
Access, correction and other rights
Your account lets you edit your profile, export your information and request account deletion. You can contact Vennjoy for access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection or portability where applicable, and raise a complaint with the data protection authority in your country. Security checks may be needed to verify a request. Publisher information and the contact address are available in the legal notice.
Experiences and bookings
Vennjoy displays activities supplied by Viator. Images load from Viator and Tripadvisor services. Destination, language, date and budget filters are sent to Viator to return matching offers; account details and circle messages are not sent. Opening a booking link takes you to Viator under its own privacy policy.
