A Snowball's Chance

A Snowball's Chance is J.G. Allen's maiden voyage into the world of short story collections. This collection features four tales, all of which show the diversity in his writing. Enjoy a re-telling of "Ferdiad at the Ford" from the tale of Cu Chulain, a modern western about a boy and a girl, a fantasy story of a doctor searching for a cure to a deadly disease, and a horror story about the dangers of therapy.

The fantasy tale "The Cure" puts a doctor searching for a cure in a vast tundra. After years of work, he is so close to finding the cure. Will he succeed, or will the mysterious cave swallow him whole?

"Wires and the Concept of Breathing" is a horror story about the dangers of being vulnerable. What awaits the young man is a new technology, one that will either cure him or kill him.

A young boy goes to a town event in the western tale "A Snowball's Chance". On a mission to deliver a gift to his gal, he will have to survive a long journey and fight off a gang of outlaws to get to where he is going. It's high noon, and he's running out of time.

The final story of the collection, "The Final Blow", is a re-telling of "Ferdiad at the Ford" from the myth of Cu Chulain. While some artistic liberties have been taken, the story stays true to the original tale. Two friends are fated to do battle, where there can be no winners.
