The Beast of Big Sur

This is an Apple Books audiobook narrated by a digital voice based on a human narrator.

He's the most hated man in the NHL. She's the ghostwriter hired to bury him.
Maddox "The Mauler" Bishop is a disgrace. Once the league's most feared enforcer, a violent on-ice assault left a rookie's career in ruins and Maddox's reputation in tatters. Now, he's exiled to a brutalist concrete fortress on the cliffs of Big Sur, waiting for the league to officially terminate his contract. He spends his days punishing his body in the gym and his nights haunting the empty halls, convinced he's the monster the world says he is.
Elena "Lanie" Rostova is a ghostwriter with a problem. Her literary agent, Julian Cross, is blackmailing her into writing the ultimate tell-all memoir: a hit piece that will cement Maddox's villainy and ruin him forever. If she refuses, Julian will destroy her credibility and bankrupt her family.
When Lanie arrives at the isolated estate, Maddox tries to scare her off with icy glares and shattered glass. But Lanie is the only one who doesn't flinch. Trapped together by a mudslide and a meddling Smart Home AI named L.U.M.I., Lanie starts to uncover the truth buried beneath Maddox's scars and silence.
But as the deadline for the book looms, Lanie faces an impossible choice: write the lie that saves her future, or write the truth that saves his soul. And when her early, fearful notes are leaked to the press, Maddox will have to decide if he can trust the woman who was sent to destroy him.
